| Carol, The 16 Mantra Tunnel is a pointed nose "tunnel" boat. A "gullwing" is a bottom style as is a "tunnel" but a boat wont be both. Mantra also produced an 18 Gullwing which is the basic same hull as an Earl Smith straight side boat and a Sunkist, which Scotty builds. The boats were constructed in Dyersburg, TN and to the best of my recollection they came on the scene in 1985 and were referred to by some as a "Tennesee Tunnel". Jimmy Hosmer had the first one I ever saw when we raced in Lake Providence, LA in 1985. Jimmy and Dianes boat is what I think was the second of a series of yellow boats by the name of "Mellow Yellow". There is a picture of this race under "RACING FUN" towards the bottom of the page. The Mantras were constructed in Tennesee until July of 1990 when Todd York aquired the assets of Mantra Boat Company and moved it to Monticello, KY and produced boats there under the name of Mantra Industries, Inc. until October of 2002. There are still a few of the boats around. I think Tom Etheride may have one as well as a white one occasionally shows up at the lake in Arkansas and at Malvern by the name of Hoof Hearted. I dont know any particular Pros or Cons as I have no experience with them other than outrunning Jimmy at Lake Providence with my old 18 Youngblood in 85.. Maybe someone else can help us here. |

| Carol, youll have to get on the SDBA website to get all the rules for the classes. Same rules as smoken n the cove, but he will also have to have a radio for his helmet. Scotty knows more about the rules then any of us. | ||
